Both Robson Ranch and Keller Farmers Markets have cancelled for this weekend. Find us at the Coppell Farmers Market Saturday (10/25) from 8-noon. We will also have the Flower Cart out Sunday morning after 8:30 am.
In bloom
The flowers are dwindling quickly. Purple hyacinth bean pods, zinnias, celosia, gomphrena, Mexican sunflowers, basil, snapdragons, marigold, and verbena are still holding out.
Been really enjoying the monarchs this week. We don’t have many flowers left, but they are swarming the Mexican sunflowers. There’s a group of six or flitting from bloom to bloom. Couldn’t get an in-focus picture, dang.
Available Starters / Seeds
Seeds: Dill, Morning Glory, Bells of Ireland, chamomile, bachelor’s button, love-in-a-mist (nigella), forget-me-nots, cosmos, dara (colored queen Anne’s lace), Mexican sunflowers, gomphrena, bee balm, celosia, cock’s comb, lime basil, blue spice basil, purple hyacinth bean, hardy hibiscus, bupleurum, and marigold.
We have aged (1-year) OAK FIREWOOD available. Will be bringing small bundles to the various markets. Email if you want to reserve.
Farm Tasks for the Week
All the bearded iris rhizomes are back in the ground.
Pre-sprouted anemones and ranunculus that had been dug out in April/May. Soaked the dried corms in water for 4 hours, then covered them with potting soil in trays. After setting them in a dark cool room for two weeks, they sprouted!
Transplanted the erygnium, shasta daisies, and yarrow from the upper planters. Decided it was time to divide and try and find a sunnier spot for them.
Now that the weather has cooled and rain is theoretically on the way, we’ve begun the big fall planting of the pre-sprouted ranunculus and anemone corms along with starter plants sprouted over the last two months: bluebonnets, foxglove, delphinium, lisianthus, statice, pincushions, carnation, and dianthus.
Still waiting to declare victory or defeat on rooting the pinched tops of snapdragons. Not sure which way it’s going to go yet.
Indoor seeding from a couple of weeks ago went well with most germinating. Waiting for them to get a little bigger before transplanting outside.
Completed the new planter! Had to add temporary fencing as our Tasmanian devils enjoy fighting in the soft loamy new beds. Luckily, we figured this out before we planted! Plumbing is still in the works but sprinkler head on a hose works fine for now.
We’ve begun the expansion of the back growing area. Took most the day to pull out the t-posts even with the post puller.

We have eggs available this week, but the quantity is starting to dwindle with the shorter days.

Cards
We have a large assortment of handmade pressed flower or quilled cards along with quilling kits. We also have quilling tools for first time quillers.
One of my latest cards … an opossum playing opossum. It makes me laugh. Apparently, I’m good at amusing myself.
