Farm Tasks for the Week

Looks like it is soon to be a buggy year! We have tons of grasshopper nymphs jumping about, so bought a nest of praying mantis. We’ll see how it turns out. We’ve also put several bird feeders around the playing areas.

Fire ants have been a large problem setting up shop in nearly all the beds. Although the bites are no fun, the bigger problem is that they love to chomp on our sunflower babies. Will be spreading dried molasses as I’ve been told they will pack up and move as they do not like sugar. Seems counter intuitive but giving it a go.

Transplanted the gomphrena starters into their sections and finished planting the crocosmia (super late on them!).

Chickens

We will only have eggs available at the Robson Ranch Farmers Market this week. If you’d like some to pick up at one of the other markets, email/text.
