Farm Tasks for the Week

Fertilized the hydrangea for the last time of the season. We delayed it a week as it was too rainy the first week of May which would have washed away the fertilizer.

Dug out the anemones for storage. We left the anemones in place last year and lost a few. That coupled with the dense spacing led to experimenting with digging them out. It turned out to be the right decision as that roughly half of the corms either disappeared or were in a serious state of rot. The other half are safely drying for storage until the fall.

Continued to flip the early spring crop beds to zinnias, sunflowers, and celosia. The gomphrena “babies” are still a little small to transplant but they are growing quickly.

Bluebonnet seeds are coming soon! Definitely within the next month.

Chickens

We will only have eggs available at the Robson Ranch Farmers Market this week. If you’d like some to pick up at one of the other markets, email/text.
