Farm Tasks for the Week

Jumping pup update … did not corral them last Sunday for an hour or two only to find two of them in the top planter. The girl dog got herself tangled in the support netting. Luckily, I heard her cries from inside and was able to free her before she was strangled by the netting. Unfortunately, she destroyed about a third of the snapdragon crop for the season.

Continuing to work on oak leaf removal and now baby oak tree removal. It was a heavy acorn year, so our beds have sprouted a ton of baby oaks. Fertilized the iris beds that have been dug out of the fall leaves along with the peonies which have begun to emerge from the ground.

Praying hard that we won’t get the anticipated freeze Monday morning as we’ve already stored all the winterization gear.

Chickens

Chickens are doing well. They love to go out in the morning, and they run to come back in at night (spurred on by scratch mixed with red pepper flakes). We have plenty of eggs, so still at spring egg pricing.
