In bloom
We have another bumper crop of lisianthus and short snapdragons this week. Our first sunflower, celosia, and crocosmia of the season debuted late last week! The gladiolus has been a real disappointment this year, not sure why most haven’t bloomed. Bachelor buttons, bells of Ireland, and yarrow are wrapping it up. Other flowers this week include lemon bee balm, daisies, purple coneflowers, privet berries/flowers, statice, roses, carnations, liatris, and rudbeckia.

Farm Tasks for the Week
Bug wars continue. This week it’s been mostly the sunflowers with green caterpillars, lace bugs, grasshoppers, ants (starting to farm aphids), and leafhoppers. A lot of manual bug squishing going on, lol!
Planting more zinnias, celosia, basil, and sunflowers for late summer / fall crops.
Weeded the two main crop areas. The beds weren’t too bad. Most the time / effort was spent along the fence line where bermuda is trying to creep in in the top growing area and where birds have planted baby elms in the back growing area.
Chickens
Tried to do a chicken photo shoot. The guinea hen (the protector) was having none of it. She got into every shot (camera hog). We have eggs available. If you’d like to reserve, email/text.
