We will be at Robson Ranch tomorrow (Friday) from 9 - noon, Coppell Farmers Market Saturday from 8 - noon, and the Keller Farmers Market Saturday from 8 - noon. The Sunday flower cart will be out from roughly 10:00 - 7:00 wind permitting (< 15 mph).
In bloom
We have dahlias this week! Only one of the two varieties are in bloom, but she is a beauty bringing in the hot summer vibes. This was a pretty good sunflower and rudbeckia week so lots of yellows. Looks like the phlox has run out for the year but the gladiolus and foxglove are hanging in there. The liatris, statice, larkspur, lemon bee balm, and bells of ireland are starting to wind down. Wild bergmont, gloriosa lily, zinnias, celosia, snapdragons, dianthus, Shasta Daisy, Purple Coneflower, Yarrow, Carnation, verbena, and basil are pumping out the blooms
Available Starters / Seeds
Seeds: Cilantro, catnip, parsley, dill, morning glory, bells of Ireland, chamomile, bachelor’s button, love-in-a-mist (nigella), forget-me-nots, cosmos, dara (colored queen Anne’s lace), Mexican sunflowers, gomphrena, bee balm, celosia, cock’s comb, blue spice basil, purple hyacinth bean, hardy hibiscus, bupleurum, and marigold.
Starters: We have some firework gomphrena starters that self-seeded, so they are really ready to go. We have Coleus, Catnip, Curly Parsley, Peppermint, apple mint, Rosemary, Lavender, Sage, and Basil (Sweet, Genovese, Globe, Lime).
Farm Tasks for the Week
Weeding and watering - rinse and repeat, lol.
Some of the new beds have been having issues with stunted or poor annual growth. Collected soil samples and shipped them off for testing to figure out what the problem is. We’re fairly confident that it’s not a water or sunlight issue. TBD
Chickens
Chickens are laying well with no drama this week. One of our oldest chickens is starting to look a little disheveled and has started brooding although I’m fairly confident that she is well past the laying age.
