In bloom

2025 ranunculus, anemone, snowflakes, Dutch iris, and bluebonnets are done. We have snapdragons, chamomile, and roses galore this week along with clematis, dianthus, poppies, bachelor buttons, peonies, nicotiana, delphinium, phlox, foxglove, tassel flower, verbena, and Siberian wallflower. Debuting this week: forget-me-nots, balsam, and a single freesia.

Available Starters / Seeds

Seeds: Bachelor’s button, love-in-a-mist (nigella), forget-me-nots, cosmos, dara (colored queen Anne’s lace), Mexican sunflowers, gomphrena, bee balm, celosia, cock’s comb, lime basil, blue spice basil, Persian basil, Thai basil, purple hyacinth bean, hardy hibiscus, bupleurum, tassel flower, and marigold.

Starters: cauliflower, tarragon, yarrow, apple mint, queen Anne’s lace, oregano, catnip, green beans, marjoram, curly parsley, orange thyme, mint, rosemary, lavender, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, sweet 100 tomatoes, better boy tomatoes, Genovese basil, sweet basil, lime basil, and coleus.

Farm Tasks for the Week

Dug out the ranunculus corms. Cleaned off the corms and leaving them on trays indoors to dry out for storage until they get replanted in October. There is some debate as to whether they can be left in place over the summer. We prefer to dig them up instead of taking the risk of them rotting.

Planted the first round of sunflowers and have zinnias and celosia starting indoors until the ranunculus dig out is complete.

Continuing to tag bearded iris rhizomes as they bloom for fall division.

Chickens

We have plenty of eggs albeit mostly smaller as the new chicks are laying up a storm.

Peach season is coming soon … we’ll soon have Peach Jam, Peach Butter, and Cinnamon Peach Jam using Freestone county peaches. We have the following jams available:

We have a large assortment of handmade pressed flower or quilled cards along with quilling kits. Still pressing the last of the bluebonnets and violas before the warm weather comes along.
