In bloom
Purple hyacinth bean pods are now being harvested along with the first two mini pumpkins! Definitely starting to feel like fall. The usual suspects for flowers are blooming and will be carrying us into winter: zinnias, celosia, gomphrena, Mexican sunflower, and basil. A few wildflowers in the back acreage have joined this week: goldenrod, false thistle, frostweed, and swamp milkweed.

Farm Tasks for the Week
Seelings from last week have sprouted for the most part (chamomile, catnip, statice, pincushion, and phlox). The snapdragons, carnations, dianthus, bluebonnets, ornamental kale, first round of foxglove, and delphinium (only two made it so far, lol … haven’t cracked the code on them) are ready to go in the ground. Waiting for the temperature to stay below 90 F.
Work continues on the new beds. Started fill in top soil on half the new bed while digging like crazy to locate the leak. Luckily it’s only when a specific circuit of the water system is turned on so it’s not a constant problem. Going to try capping off the drip hoses to determine if it’s the hoses themselves or a leak at the center of the earth.
Chickens
Chicken have gotten over whatever their issue was last week and are returning nicely to their coop in the evenings. We have eggs available this week.
