Farm Tasks for the Week
The cover crop is planted and sprouted! The rows / squares look very fuzzy even after the chickens snuck in and dug around in a few, and then the dogs scaled the fence and dug around in another few.
The first wave of anemones, ranunculus, dianthus, lisianthus, stock, foxglove, statice, and canterbury bells have been transplanted and are looking great especially after the rain (which was a great blessing).
Direct sowed some wildflowers again to the wildflower field. Only spotted some bachelor buttons sprouting so far, but a little early to tell the rest.
Ordering a few new varieties of clematis. Hopefully they will take to the trellis on the upper planters.
The bearded iris have been fertilized. The sweet peas have been direct seeded and some have already sprouted. The dutch iris has been planted.
Chickens
The chickens have decided they are done laying for the year. From the current flock of 20 laying hens, we are getting one egg a day. Needless to say, they are not currently earning their keep.
